Redstrings is a desktop workspace for work that gets hard to follow in documents and spreadsheets. Put the people, evidence, events, and sources on one board, then draw the relationships between them.

Put the whole system in view
Use cards for people, teams, documents, places, events, and notes. Connect related cards with labeled strings. Add a source to a card and a confidence level to a string when you need to separate evidence from a working theory.
Redstrings is designed first for independent consultants mapping how an organization works in practice. The same structure also fits research and investigation. Search the board, follow relationships with the keyboard, and export the result as a project file, PNG image, or Markdown report.

Local by default
Project files stay on your computer. Redstrings has no account requirement and no sync service. The core board works offline.
When data leaves your computer
The optional AI features use outside services. Gemini analysis sends the board content you select and your API key directly to Google. The MCP server uses a local bridge, but a connected client that uses a cloud model sends the Redstrings information it reads to that client's model provider.

Free and Pro
Free includes unlimited boards, cards, and strings, all seven built-in card types, search, decorations, and project, PNG, and Markdown exports.
Pro costs $19.99 as a one-time purchase through the Microsoft Store or Mac App Store. It adds more themes, custom card and relationship types, Gemini analysis, saved reports, and the experimental MCP server.
